About this Event
Welcome back UAIDers! Tonight our advisor, Dr. Moise, will be discussing her academic career and some of her current research project alongside two of her lab interns who will be discussing their experiences working in a research lab. We will then be hosting and Q&A session afterwards to answer any questions you may have about her research, we hope you can join us!
At UM, United Against Inequities in Disease (UAID) is a volunteer chapter that belongs to a national non-profit organization. Our mission is to empower students and communities through the elimination of health inequities. As an organization, we focus on the big picture, as well as the individual political, social, and economic aspects of a problem. We have found that for our success, it is vital that we address health disparities not just in one, but in all three of these categories. This integrated approach has allowed to impact both our national and local communities. We host several on campus and off-campus public health events, that aim to both educate and empower our students and community members. We seek to educate the public and provoke a higher level thinking on health issues, as well as institute long-term sustainable policy change when applicable.
