#truevalorJoin us on October 20th, 2023, at 7:00 pm at the Cosford Cinema on the University of Miami campus, for a private screening of “True Valor”, a short film by writer-director Juan Manuel Lama (B.S. ’96), presented by the School of Communication, the Veterans Student Organization, and Iron Arrow.
An emotionally crafted story of empathy and social dynamics laced with duty, honor,
and courage, "True Valor" is the tale of Robert Gordon, a successful CEO who is compelled to befriend a homeless veteran. As an army vet himself, Robert finds that he's in a situation where he must grapple with his own past while reconciling with his duty to save one of his own.
The director will participate in a Q&A with the audience following the 23-minute film. Light refreshments will be served.
Born in Santiago, Chile, filmmaker Juan Manuel Lama came to Miami at the age 12 and immediately fell in love with the culture and lifestyle of South Florida. Fully adopting his new country, he chose to serve in the U.S. Army where he performed his duties with distinction during the Gulf War in 1991.
Upon his return, he re-committed himself to South Florida while earning a degree in Cinematography and Film & Video Production from the University of Miami. Since graduation, Juan has entrenched himself in South Florida’s film community and has worked as a DGA 1st Assistant Director on a plethora of films, music videos, and commercials.
Admission is FREE but registration required at link above.
