About this Event
1314 Miller Dr, Coral Gables, FL 33146
Etienne Charles, director
Guest artist Marcus Miller is hailed as one of the most influential musicians of our era, boasting a career spanning over three decades at the forefront of his craft. With a plethora of accolades under his belt, including two Grammy awards and the prestigious title of UNESCO Artist For Peace, Miller's impact on the music scene is undeniable. His distinctive bass sound resonates throughout an extensive repertoire of iconic tracks, from Bill Wither's "Just The Two Of Us" to Luther Vandross' "Never Too Much," as well as compositions by luminaries such as Chaka Khan, David Sanborn, Herbie Hancock, Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, George Benson, Elton John, and Bryan Ferry, among others.
In an exciting collaboration, Marcus Miller joins forces with Trinidad-born storyteller and esteemed Frost professor Etienne Charles, along with our talented Frost Studio Jazz Band, to pay homage to one of his revered mentors, Ralph MacDonald. A Grammy award-winning percussionist and composer, MacDonald was celebrated for his mastery of Afro-Caribbean rhythms and his contributions to numerous chart-topping hits. Together, Miller, Charles, and the Frost jazz ensembles present a captivating multi-media tribute honoring MacDonald's enduring legacy.
With the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.
