Join us for the Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation Lecture in Photography featuring Anastasia Samoylova: Adaptation.
Miami-based artist Anastasia Samoylova is one of the most exciting image makers to emerge in recent years. In her talk, Adaptation, Samoylova will discuss six major bodies of work that comprise observational photography, collage, and painting to create richly layered meditations on the fate of the natural landscape and the urban experience of image overload. Samoylova’s celebrated art is in the collections of the Perez Art Museum, Miami; the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, and Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago; among others. Published monographs include the forthcoming Adaptation (Thames & Hudson, 2024), Image Cities (Fundación Mapfre / Hatje Cantz, 2023), Floridas (Steidl, 2022) and FloodZone (Steidl, 2019).
