Join the Tampa 'Canes in giving back to our community by participating in our local 'Canes Day of Service on Saturday, April 26th from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
This year, Tampa 'Canes will be volunteeering at the Tampa Society for the Prevention of Animal Cruelity (SPCA) Shelter in Largo, FL. The SPCA is a non-profit, animal wellfare agency that has been serving the Tampa Bay community for 84 years (https://spcatampabay.org/). The SPCA has a need for assistance on a variety of projects that will improve their shelter, which anually cares for over 8,000 dogs and cats. All ages are welcome to join us giving back to our community.
Tampa SPCA will have us working on their new dog sensory pathway, designed to stimulate all 5 of the dog's senses as it's walked by a trained volunteer. The pathway will encorporate various plants and surfaces, and we will help with planting and de-weeding. The SPCA will also tell us more about their mission and give us a tour. SPCA will also have coffee, water, and light snacks on hand. You're also welcome to bring your own beverages and snacks.
Directions for when you arrive the main gate will NOT be open at 9am - please set your GPS to 9001 126th Avenue N in Largo, FL. We will be entering through the employee gate, which is at the end of the dirt road next to this address (to the west). After entering the employee gate, drive past the blue trailer toward the 2-story Education Center where we will be gathering. There will also be "Event Parking" signs.
