DESCRIPTION:Join us for a lecture by Jürgen Mayer H. of J. MAYER H. und Pa
rtner\, Architekten\; part of the Spring 2026 University of Miami School o
f Architecture Tecnoglass Lecture Series\, Mixtape. U-SoA revisits highlig
hts from the last decade with speakers re-invited for an update on recent
work and to discuss change/career trajectories in a rapidly transforming w
 orld.\n\n \n\nsimulation / stimulation\npublic space as an activator for c
ultural and social innovation.\n \nJ. MAYER H.\, the German architecture a
nd design studio led by Jürgen Mayer H.\, redefines public space as a dyn
amic platform for social\, economic\, and cultural transformation. Their w
ork frequently blurs boundaries between architecture\, art\, and communica
tion\, emphasizing the public realm as a site of interaction and activatio
 n. In waterfront developments\, J. MAYER H. uses sculptural forms and flow
ing geometries to reclaim post-industrial spaces\, transforming them into
vibrant\, inclusive environments that attract both tourism and local engag
ement. Along the city center\, their designs like Metropol Parasol in Sevi
lle demonstrate how bold architectural interventions can revitalize neglec
ted urban cores\, spurring economic activity\, cultural programming\, and
a renewed sense of community. Similarly\, when integrated into mobility in
frastructure—such as transit hubs or pedestrian bridges—public spaces
designed by J. MAYER H. serve not only functional needs but also promote p
ause\, interaction\, and contemplation. These interventions encourage pede
strian flow while embedding identity and civic pride into the movement of
daily life. Across these contexts\, public space is not just background bu
t an active participant in urban life—shaping behaviors\, supporting eco
nomies\, and amplifying cultural narratives. J. MAYER H.’s work exemplif
ies how design can turn shared space into a catalyst for multifaceted urba
 n renewal.\n\n \n\n6:00 pm Reception - Jorge M\, Perez Architecture Center
