U-SoA revisits highlights from the last decade with speakers re-invited for an update on recent work and to discuss change/career trajectories in a rapidly transforming world.
Same as It Ever Was explores how architecture evolves through continuity. In a culture often preoccupied with disruption, Adib Cúre and Carie Penabad turn instead toward those forms, spaces, and urban patterns that endure because they continue to carry meaning.
Through the work of Cúre & Penabad, the lecture reflects on how architecture can be both modern and ancient at once—responsive to present life while grounded in precedent, type, climate, craft, and the accumulated intelligence of the city.
Moving between buildings, urban spaces, and everyday constructions, the lecture argues that architectural invention rarely begins from nothing, but emerges through the patient transformation of inherited forms.
