Healthcare simulation has been widely adopted in health professions education at all stages of education and clinical practice. While the early focus of simulation was on simulators and instructional practices, more recent attention has shifted the focus to view simulation as a translational science. From this perspective, healthcare simulation may be viewed as integral resource to identify and bridge education, performance, and practice gaps directly focused on improving patient care, health systems, and clinical outcomes.
