About this Event
5030 Brunson Dr, Coral Gables, FL 33146
#filmfestivalLovers of movies and film music, listen up! On Sunday, November 5th, the Cosford Theater will host Scores for the Silver Screen: an annual festival of student short films featuring original music written by student composers and performed by a live orchestra.
Filmmakers are paired up with student composers from Frost, who are given two weeks in early October to write original music for their films. The latter half of October is spent rehearsing with the ensemble: a 12-piece chamber orchestra made up of Frost musicians. Select scores from this event are recorded prior to the festival in the Weeks Recording Studio so that they can be incorporated directly into the film at a later date. As for the screening itself, however, the music is played live by our musicians.
Admission for this event is FREE. The festival will take place starting at 8:00pm on Sunday, November 5th in the Cosford Theater (5030 Brunson Drive, Memorial Building Ste. 225, Coral Gables FL 33146). Runtime is approximately 90 minutes. Scores for the Silver Screen is run jointly by the UMiami chapters of Delta Kappa Alpha and the Society of Composers, Inc.
