About this Event
SBIR and STTRs grants are often called America's Seed Fund. These grants are awarded to small companies, including startups spun out of academic research, and are meant to advance the development of new products and services and support economic growth.
Please join U Innovation as we welcome representatives of the National Cancer Institute, National Center for Advancing Translational Science, and the US Department of Energy to talk about SBIRs and STTRs at their agencies.
We will also hear from the UM Office of Research Administration, the Conflict of Interest office within the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Scholarship, and the Coulter Center for Translational Research on how UM interacts with SBIR/STTR applicants and faculty responsibilities when participating in these awards.
Finally, we will hear from a panel of faculty innovators who have each been involved in applying for and executing on awarded SBIRs and STTRs about their experiences and their tips for successfully navigating this unique opportunty to fund a spinout company.
