Peter Mennin was not only a great American composer who studied with Howard Hanson, but he was also a renowned administrator who served as Director of Peabody Conservatory and a long-time president of the Juilliard School. Moby Dick is a dramatic work that was motivated by the Melville novel of the same name. 2023 marks the 100th Anniversary of Mennin’s birth in 1923.
Lansing McLoskey, Frost School’s Professor of Composition, is an internationally acclaimed composer. The Frost Symphony Orchestra will premiere his Violin Concerto with Miclen LaiPang, Frost alumni returning to solo with the FSO and Maestro Gerard Schwarz.
