Dr. Ayana Smith, Robert Kelley Memorial Lecturer
In this talk, Dr. Ayana Smith will focus on her ongoing projects regarding ethical practices and social justice in early music research, pedagogy, and performance. The talk will highlight several case studies from her forthcoming book, Race and Representation in the Music History Classroom: Leading Change through Pedagogy (Routledge, expected fall 2022). Dr. Ayana Smith is an Associate Professor of Musicology at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She specializes in Baroque music; opera, aesthetics, and visual culture; race and representation in music history pedagogy; and women and gender in music
