About this Event
To recognize the University of Miami's "75th Anniversary: Everglades, River of Grass" celebration and mark Tropical Audubon Society’s 75th Anniversary, University of Miami students are invited to an engaging, collaborative, educational community service event titled "Pine Rockland — an Endangered Everglades Habitat." Explore Tropical Audubon Society's demonstration Pine Rockland forest, sited just a block east of downtown South Miami, with Pine Rockland expert Joy Klein, Environmental Resource Project Supervisor for the Miami-Dade County Department of Environmental Resources Management. Learn about the flora and fauna indigenous to this unique habitat and all the reasons Pine Rockland is so crucial to the Everglades ecosystem. Next you’ll dig in with Tropical Audubon Society Master Gardener Amy Creekmur to help steward and preserve this rare patch of globally imperiled Pine Rockland.
