The Gender & Sexuality Studies Program Presents a Colloquium on Iranian Women’s Online Activism with Dr. Yasamin Rezaei
Yasamin REZAI (she/they/او) is a polyglot social media scholar and Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures (MLL) at the University of Miami. Her academic work is focused on the intersection of Gender Studies, New Media Studies and Performance Studies by employing Digital Humanities tools and data-driven approaches. Her research is focused on social media, critical studies of data, and online activism. She is the co-founder of DLC+, formerly known as Instasociety, an open-access research network and resource for scholars exploring digital literacy culture. Yasamin’s works have appeared in academic journals such as the Journal of Gender Studies, Digital Humanities Quarterly, European Journal of English Studies, and Critical Studies in Media Communication, and her research and panels were presented at several conferences, such as the ones organized by the National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA), Performance Studies International (PSi), Cultural Studies Association (CSA), or Modern Languages Association (MLA).
