#orlandocanesJoin Alumna Nicole O’Brien for a ’Canes Day of Service at Oakland Nature Preserve. West of Orlando, just 30 minutes from the attractions and nestled between Winter Garden and Clermont in the beautiful Town of Oakland, lies a "hidden gem." A 150-acre preserve offering environmental education and ecotourism activities for visitors of all ages.
You are invited to join fellow local alumni to help the Preserve. Their Mission is to promote an understanding of the fragile balance between mankind and the environment by educating visitors about Lake Apopka basin's ecosystems and cultural history and by restoring and conserving the lands within the Preserve.
The work we will do together will likely focus on the removal of invasive plants to encourage native plants to thrive.

- Gardening or work gloves
What to Wear
- Apply sunscreen and insect repellent before arriving
- Wear comfortable, close-toed shoes that can get dirty
- Wear a hat and pants for sun and leg protection
