#social justice prize, moonrise, mid-autumnMoonrise takes the occasion of the full-moon, mid-autumn festival celebrated across different communities to discuss “Asian” diasporic spaces and territories in South Florida. Supported by the University of Miami School of Architecture’s Social Justice Prize, the event includes a small exhibit, talks by five architects and scholars, and a drawing workshop, focusing on Homestead and Redland agricultural areas and their engineering and legality. The event convenes students, staff, and faculty self-identified as connected to Asian histories and lived realities to discuss independent farming, food networks, and communal rituals. Everyone is welcome. Snacks and tea will be served. Please RSVP to Professor Lily Wong: lcw84@miami.edu.
