The Department of Art and Art History proudly presents IL Carico del Tratteggio by Monia Meluzzi. Join us on Thursday, April 9, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM for the opening reception at the University of Miami Gallery @ The Chapel.
IL Carico del Tratteggio is an exhibition dedicated to the trace of the line. Using the
metaphor of emotional weight carried from life experiences during an existential journey. This accumulation of emotions materializes through the repetition of lines, creating volume, depth, and shadow. The exhibition guides the audience through sketches, sculptures, and video-installations made with recycled materials such as paper, cardboard, wood, silk screen fabric, and threads.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Monia Meluzzi is an Italian artist born in Rimini, Italy. After obtaining her diploma from art school at Liceo Artistico A. Serpieri in her hometown, she continued her education in the United States, earning a BFA from Florida International University in 2022.
Over the course of her career, Meluzzi has participated in several group exhibitions in Miami. Her most recent exhibitions include MIFA Miami International Fine Arts (2025), the Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition at the Lowe Art Museum (2024), Converging Plateaus at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas (MOCAA) (2024), Art Basel Wynwood at the University of Miami Gallery (2023), ProjectArt x MOCA Popup at the Museum of Contemporary Art (2023), El Ancho Mar Que Nos Separa at the Laundromat Art Space (2022), Emergent at Miami Beach Urban Studios (2022), and Stone House Centennial at the Deering Estate (2022).
IL Carico del Tratteggio will be on view through April 22, 2026, at the University of MiamiArt Gallery @ The Chapel, located at 6565 Red Road, Coral Gables, FL 33143. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. To schedule a private tour, please call (305) 284-3161.
