About this Event
1314 Miller Dr, Coral Gables, FL 33146
The world-renowned American string quartet explores the concept of “home” with works by George Walker, Kevin Puts, and Beethoven.
We all know the pain of leaving the familiar safe haven of childhood and having to brave the wilds of the world to search for a place and people we can truly call our own. Kevin Puts captures in sound the plight of today’s Syrian refugees, African-American composer George Walker explores identity, and Beethoven looks to darkness and what lays ahead with his penultimate string quartet. As this program unfolds, we are encouraged to ask ourselves: “Where have I come from and where am I going? Who and what is my true home?”
“Throughout, the Miró Quartet played with explosive vigor and technical finesse.”– The New York Times.
“The Miró’s approach to these epoch-making masterpieces is consistently animated and imaginative, often keenly driven though nearly always dispatched with a light touch.” – Gramophone
