Active Shooter Response Training, conducted by the Department of Public Safety–Emergency Management Division, is a 1.5 hour-long interactive session that incorporates the latest Department of Homeland Security guidance and healthcare-specific best practices for individual response to an active shooter situation.
Class Topics Include:
- Overview of Recent Active Shooter Incidents
- Individual Response to Active Shooters (Run, Hide, Fight)
- Law Enforcement Response to an Active Shooter
- Emergency Notification Network (ENN) Alerts
- Emergency Preparedness Resources for All Hazards
- Patient Considerations
Attendees are encouraged to review the simplified active shooter guidelines and short videos available at www.miami.edu/activeshooter prior to attending the class.
