About this Event

Filmmaker Rodney Ascher, who has directed speculative documentaries such as ROOM 237, the Cannes Film Festiva-award nominee about people who have unusual theories about Stanley Kubrick's THE SHINING, will conduct a master class for the School of Communication at the Bill Cosford Cinema on Friday March 31 from 3-5:30 p.m.
Ascher, who was born in Miami, will screen some of his early student works, talk about how to thrive as an independent filmmaker with a singular vision, discuss filmmaking techniques on a low-budget, and explore any area related to short and feature-length filmmaking, from conception to fundraising to execution to distribution.
This event is open to any University of Miami students but will be of particular interest to anyone majoring in film production, film theory and the mechanics of the movie industry.
The master class will be followed on Saturday April 1 at 7 p.m. with a screening of Ascher's latest film, A GLITCH IN THE MATRIX, at the Cosford Cinema. Admission is free and the screening is open to the general public.
Please RSVP here if you would like to attend.
