About this Event
Please join us for the virtual program Lowe Connects: Vodou en Vogue in which University of Miami Assistant Professor Eziaku Nwokocha and Vodou Priestess Manbo Maude explore the intersection of fashion and spirit in contemporary Haitian vodou. Professor Nwokocha and Manbo Maude will link manner of dress and adornment with religious belief and community in the practice of vodou today. Based on Nwokocha's recently published book, Vodou en Vogue: Fashioning Black Divinities in Haiti and the United States, this wide-ranging discussion between scholar and practitioner will also highlight two of the Lowe Art Museum's vodou flags by artist Clotaire Bazile.
