About this Event
Join us for a presentation by artist Pierre Cavalan. Cavalan’s work is featured in the exhibition Force of Nature: highlights from the Myrna B. Palley Art Jewelry Collection (on view through June 5, 2022 at the Lowe Art Museum).
Pierre arrived in Australia from Paris, France in 1974, and has worked in the Sydney Jewlery industry for many years. In 1990, Pierre set up his own studio in Glebe, and started exhibiting his creations Nationally and Internationally. He received many awards for his creations using various recyclable materials, and a fellowship from Kent State University, and gave workshops at San Diego State University. Pierre broke new boundaries within the jewelry trade, mixing old and new materials in a baroque style that remains unique to his artistic style.
His works have been collected by National institutions around the world and can be found in the collections at LACMA, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, USA, Museum of Art and Design Museum, NYC, USA, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas, Imperial War Museum, London, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Montreal, Canada, National Gallery of Australia, Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, and many others.
