About this Event
Back by popular demand the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program is offering dance and movement for stress relief. Dance/Movement Therapy uses movement to help individuals achieve emotional, cognitive, physical, and social integration. Beneficial for both physical and mental health, dance therapy can be used for stress reduction, disease prevention, and mood management. Rhythmic group activities in dance/movement therapy develop connection, communication, and community with others. Dance/movement therapy can be used with all populations and with individuals, couples, families, or groups. It promotes self-awareness, self-esteem, and a safe space for the expression of feelings. This seminar will be facilitated by Carol Kaminsky MA, BC-DMT, NCC, a board-certified dance-movement therapist and a faculty member in the University of Miami dance program. She has taught mindful movement and meditation for stress reduction (MBSR) for over 20 years. FSAP Health and Wellness webinars are offered as part of the University of Miami’s Well ‘Canes Program. Attend to receive 100 Pure Wellness points (to a maximum total of 300 points for FSAP 1-hour webinar attendance per calendar year).
