Murilo S. Dias is an ecologist interested in community ecology, macroecology and biogeography. His main focus is in explaining the spatial and temporal variation of multiple facets of biodiversity, relying on large data sets, statistical modeling, and simulations. Using freshwater fish as a study model, his findings shed light on the formation of the outstanding South American fish fauna, mainly in the Amazon drainage basin.
