 ee worked extensively with the Kislak Collection to advance her research o
 n the history and legacy of maroon communities in the Americas—societies
  formed by people who escaped enslavement and established independent sett
 lements across the Caribbean\, Central America\, and South America—to st
 rengthen a novel she is writing set in 1760 Jamaica.\n\nMcGhee will share 
 her recent findings and discuss how the collection has supported her creat
 ive endeavors. Following the presentation\, there will be a Q&A with the o
