About this Event
The University of Miami School of Law Hispanic Law Student Association is proud to announce our upcoming event, “Identidad: What it Means to be Hispanic/Latino in the Legal Field.” This event will consist of a three-person panel comprised of Hispanic/Latinx attorneys and judges, along with student moderators who will help advance the questions and answers along.
Topics to be discussed include: Identity, Discrimination, and the Compromises that are often made by Hispanic/Latinx attorneys. The overarching theme for the event will be that of Identity and how being Hispanic/Latinx has played a role in the careers of our panelists. We also hope to discuss how differences in culture might play a role in the current legal field, especially as more and more minority-background attorneys enter the legal field each year. Finally, the panel will touch on the current issues and obstacles faced by Hispanic/Latinx attorneys in the legal field today and how these current issues and obstacles might be overcome.
