From ancient epics to modern reflections, "Heroes and Villains" explores the many faces of courage, conflict, and complexity through wind band music.
The Frost Symphonic Winds presents a bold and dramatic program that celebrates iconic figures who shape our world and challenge our ideals. The concert features the Little Threepenny Music by Kurt Weill, a sly and satirical suite drawn from his groundbreaking collaboration with Bertolt Brecht, The Threepenny Opera.
William Owens' And With This New Day, a recent work inspired by the enduring words of Eleanor Roosevelt, offers a hopeful and uplifting tribute to everyday heroism and resilience. W. Francis McBeth’s Beowulf brings the legendary hero to life in a musical narrative of valor and destiny, while March of the Belgian Parachutists, originally composed by Pierre Leemans and arranged by Col. John R. Bourgeois, pays homage to the bravery of those who serve in times of war.
Whether through acts of nobility or moments of cunning, "Heroes and Villains" invites listeners to reflect on the stories that define us—and the music that brings them vividly to life.
