Prepare to embark on a musical odyssey through the realms of gaming as the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra takes the stage on February 2, 2024, at UM Gusman Concert Hall. Under the baton of Scott Flavin, the orchestra will weave together the captivating soundscapes of some of the most beloved video games of all time.
Uncover the secrets of Hyrule as the orchestra pays homage to one of the most iconic and enduring franchises in gaming history, The Legend of Zelda. Get ready to experience the thrill of falling blocks and the pulse-pounding intensity while the orchestra transforms the simple yet addictive tunes of Tetris. Embark on your musical quest to become a Pokémon Master. Feel the need for speed, as you go from the urban beats of City Escape to the haunting melodies of the Space Colony ARK in Sonic's world. Experience the epic grandeur of the Elder Scrolls universe as the orchestra tackles the sweeping orchestral score of Skyrim. And, from the world of Alrest, the orchestra will also bring to life the emotional and fantastical score of "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" paired with the music from the strategy game Patron.
This concert promises to be a unique fusion of gaming nostalgia and classical brilliance with scores arranged by the Frost Studio Jazz Writing Program, directed by Steve Guerra.
