Join us for the seventh installment in a new breakthrough monthly film series at the Cosford Cinema focusing on current world issues such as migration and social inclusion, peace and security, ageing populations, democracy, climate change and artificial intelligence.
The series is intended to bring two types of audiences together: Movie lovers and people who care about current events.
The film "Minari" depicts the story of a Korean-American family who move to an Arkansas farm in pursuit of their American Dream. The film received six nominations at the 93rd Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress (Youn). Youn won the award for her performance, making her the first Korean actor to win an Academy Award.
Regina Ahn, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategic Communication at the University of Miami School of Communication, will lead an engaging discussion before and after the screening. The conversation will focus on the challenges faced by migrant families, parental mediation, and social media.
Admission is free but registration required at link above. We hope to see you there!
