https://miami.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_fDLAy9TlRZOPvnrd_UATHALarge language models (LLMs) have recently emerged as a powerful tool for addressing medical questions and expanding clinical knowledge through the analysis of unstructured data in patient records. We will describe several applications of LLMs to extract phenotypic presentations from clinical notes, to recommend genetic tests for patients with suspected Mendelian diseases, and to predict the likely genetic diseases from multimodal phenotypic and demographic information.
This presentation is part of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Shared Resource (BBSR) Quantitative Science Lecture series.
Speaker:
Kai Wang, Ph.D.
Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
University of Pennsylvania
Dr. Wang's research focuses on the development of bioinformatics methods to improve the understanding of the genetic basis of human diseases, and the integration of electronic health records and genomic information to facilitate genomic medicine on scale. Dr. Wang is the author of ANNOVAR, one of the most used bioinformatics tools, with over 14,000 citations.
