Finding Joy: A Journey Through the Black Experience
In honor and celebration of Black History Month, the Black Musicians’ Caucus (BMC) has partnered with Frost’s School Culture, Equity, and Diversity Committee (SCED) to bring alive an expansive student showcase that highlights Black musical contributions of the past and present.
Featuring works exclusively by Black composers, this show explores the unique trials, tribulations, and triumphs of the African diaspora. Including performances by members of the Frost Jazz Vocal Performance Studio, Studio Music and Jazz Department, Contemporary department, Choral Studies Department, Classical department, the University of Miami Gospel Choir, various chamber ensembles, as well as talented artists of different disciplines across the UM campus, this program will be both a celebration of Black Joy and a powerful reminder that Black history, Black culture and Black stories are essential to the ongoing story of this nation. Join us for a night of music, magic, and a message not to be missed!
