Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology (FAAST) is Florida’s FREE assistive technology (AT) program.
Assistive Services are any service that directly assists an individual with a disability in the selection, acquisition, or use of an assistive technology device. An AT device is any item, piece of equipment or product system used to increase or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.
The services of FAAST aim to improve the quality of life for Floridians with disabilities by increasing access to assistive technology through empowerment and collaboration.
As a result of attending this experience you’ll gain
- Awareness of accessibility resourcs available through FAAST
- Understanding of the benefits of assistive technology for individuals and teams
- How to access the free services and resources available through FAAST
About the facilitator:
Ana Nevares, M.A., is a state certified special education teacher. She is a native Spanish speaker and is the coordinator of the South and Broward Regional FAAST Demonstration Centers. Ms. Nevares helped develop a bilingual, online curriculum for preschool teachers of students with special needs on the use of assistive technology (AT) tools and strategies to increase early literary skills as part of the Step Up AT Project.
This FAAST Program is open to all staff and faculty. It is brought to you by the FAAST Team and Human Resources Office of Workplace Equity and Inclusion.
This event is an elective in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Certificate Program and is eligible to earn up to 75 Well Canes incentive points.
