  from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM.\n\n \n\nEl Pasado Mío: Afrodescent Contributions
To Cuban Art\n\nThis landmark exhibition celebrates the work of forty-thr
ee Afro-Cuban artists who were active between the 1820s and the present. W
hile several of those featured have achieved global fame (even if posthumo
usly)\, many have yet to receive the attention they deserve\, prominent am
ong them a group of eleven female artists whose works have never been disp
layed together.\n\n \n\nAfrocubanismo: Highlights From The Ramon and Neryc
s Cernuda Collection\n\nArtists in 1930s Cuba navigated competing pressure
 s between academic success\, avant‑garde innovation\, and European moder
 nism\, giving rise to Afrocubanismo\, a movement that re-centered Afro‑C
uban culture as fundamental to modern Cuban identity while remaining entan
gled with exoticism and racial stereotyping. Drawing on the Ramón and Ner
cys Cernuda Collection\, the Lowe Art Museum’s exhibition—guest curate
d by Alejandro de la Fuente—presents key Afrocubanista works\, including
by Wifredo Lam\, to illuminate the complex social and cultural forces sha
 ping twentieth‑century Cuban art.\n\n \n\nTickets: $15 per person \n\nFr
ee for Lowe members\n\n \n\nWe look forward to sharing this enriching even
 ing with you!
