About this Event

Like the depths of the sea, the stacks of University of Miami's Special Collections are filled with wonderful and mysterious sights to behold. Cathy Durso’s The Natural History Museum #2 is an artist's book that mirrors a museum, one that invites us to to use it as a handheld exhibit to explore beneath the ocean's surface.
Artists’ books challenge readers to engage with narrative and texts in new and different ways. Follow Jay Sylvestre as he takes you on a fascinating journey deep into the layers and textures of a book artist's interpretation of sea creatures housed in a colorful cabinet of curiosities.
Join our Special Collections team for an online series of Deep Dives—informative, enticing, and educational looks into a selection of images that are representative of materials in our collections. Learn more about what we collect, how and why we do it, and get a glimpse into the fascinating world of rare books, manuscripts, and archives at the University of Miami Libraries.
