About this Event
During this session, you will learn to distinguish between conscious and unconscious bias and what triggers it. In addition to the definitions, you will be introduced to Lenses, Layers and Legacies, three dynamics which shape and influence how we behave towards others. We will examine some of the biases that we and others may have and recognize how and where they may have developed during our lifetime experiences. You will be introduced to the "Point It Out, Check It Out, Work It Out" approach for addressing and interrupting biased behavior. We will use customized case studies for practicing the approach, and lastly, learn some actions that will help each of us address our own biases.
