About this Event
275 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820
Calling all Fairfield County Miami Hurricanes, families, and friends!
Join the New York ’Canes for an opportunity to give back to our community by participating in our local ’Canes Day of Service on April 20th. For the first time, we are holding this service event in southern Connecticut to bring together local ’Canes supporters while positively impacting our community.
We will be working with Food Rescue US, which arranges for volunteers to pick up fresh food surpluses from local businesses and deliver it to social service agencies serving the food insecure.
For our Service Day, we will meet as a group in the late morning to hear from a Food Rescue US representative about their work, after which we’ll form two groups, one to pick up surplus food from Trader Joe’s in Darien and one group to pick up from Costco in Norwalk. Both groups will meet again when we deliver the food to New Covenant Center in Stamford, which is focused on hunger prevention and social services for a better life.
All you need is your car, yourself, and any other volunteers who want to help!
Make sure to follow us on social media to stay up to date on everything we're doing!
This event is led by Juliana Wheeler, B.A. ’92, Alumni Board Member, and
