About this Event
4100 West Ann Lurie Place, Chicago IL
The Chicago ’Canes Community invites you to join us for a community service project with the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
Saturday, January 28, 2023
1:00 - 3:45 pm CST
Location: 4100 West Ann Lurie Place, Chicago IL
Volunteers will repack donated and purchased food items that arrive in bulk quantities and need to be broken down into manageable sizes to distribute quality food properly and efficiently to participating food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters in our local community. In a Repack session, you may sort produce, inspect, and box shipments of bread or repack bulk dry goods (pasta, rice, beans) into smaller quantities. Children ages 11+ are welcome to participate.
With your help, we can support the Greater Chicago Food Depository in its effort to provide the nourishment our neighbors need to improve their quality of life.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to your Repack session so we can begin right on time with a brief orientation. Long pants, shirts that cover shoulders, and fully enclosed shoes are required.
Free parking for volunteers is available on Karlov Avenue and Ann Lurie Place, next to the Food Depository. Due to the construction, there is limited parking for volunteers. We highly encourage carpooling, public transportation, or taking rideshares at this time.
Please note that all in-person events will be hosted in accordance with the latest CDC guidelines, local government regulations, and/or University guidelines, all subject to change due to the COVID pandemic.
