#ChicagoCanesThe Chicago ’Canes Community invites you to join us for a community service project with the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Volunteers will assist in repacking donated and purchased food items that arrive in bulk. These items need to be broken down into manageable sizes for proper and efficient distribution to food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters across our local community.
In a Repack session, you may be asked to:
- Sort produce
- Inspect and box shipments of bread
- Repack bulk dry goods (e.g., pasta, rice, beans) into smaller quantities
Note: Children ages 11+ are welcome to participate!
Important Information:
- Arrival Time: Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to check in and attend a brief orientation.
- Dress Code: Long pants, shirts that cover your shoulders, and fully enclosed shoes are required.
- Parking: Free parking is available for volunteers in the Food Depository parking lot.
