About this Event
Join the Boston ’Canes Community for a running/walking 5k to celebrate ’Canes Day of Service in collaboration with the Achilles International team. Whether it be a new PR, a marathon, a weekly one-mile walk, or a roll in the park, Achilles relies on dedicated volunteers to ensure our athletes with disabilities feel supported and welcomed.
What Do Achilles Volunteers Do?
Help adults and children with disabilities complete a run, walk, or ride safely in a fun, supportive environment.
Provide motivation and guidance.
Learn about adaptive equipment and assist with logistics.
Yell “Go Achilles!” to give our community in neon yellow a boost on racecourses.
Registration for this volunteer opportunity is limited to 30 people and must be completed by April 13th, 2024. Registrants will receive a t-shirt for their participation.
Once you have registered here in Localist, you must complete an application with the Achilles International team via Rosterfy, which includes a waiver and disclaimer for this event.
Volunteers based in the U.S. will then be asked to complete a background check. Covering the $15 cost is optional. Completing the background check ensures the safety of the athletes with disabilities. Once reviewed and completed, you will receive an email confirmation with an 11-minute guide.
The meet-up location and finish will be located at:
276 Newbury St, Boston, MA 02116
Kindly note that by registering for a running/walking 5K organized by the Boston ’Canes volunteers, you acknowledge: (1) you are entirely responsible for your well-being, safety, and preparedness during the 5K activities; (2) the University of Miami, ’Canes Community and its volunteers do not take responsibility for any harm, bodily injury, accidents, or damage to you or your personal property.
