The Frost School of Music’s newest chamber jazz nonet performs music from Miles Davis’ compilation album The Birth of the Cool. This ensemble fuses students from across the classical and jazz departments at the Frost School. The music being performed is from the cool jazz era and was originally recorded in 1949-1950 and released in 1957 by Capitol Records. This ensemble includes a very unique instrumentation of trumpet, alto and baritone saxophones, French horn, trombone, tuba, piano, bass, and drums. The original music on this album is rarely performed today – come hear it live!
