DESCRIPTION:The UM Office of Emergency Management regularly conducts virtua
 l Active Shooter Response Training with the University Community. The cours
 e is 1 hour and 15 minutes in length and consists of a presentation\, discu
 ssion\, and online group activities that incorporate the latest Department 
 of Homeland Security guidance on best practice responses for those who enco
 unter active shooter situations. \n\n \n\nThe course takes a holistic appro
 ach to mitigating active shooter incidents and covers awareness\, avoidance
 \, and appropriate actions for response and reporting of concerning behavio
 rs prior to an incident ever taking place. In addition\, expert instructors
  discuss how to respond\, what to look for\, and how to prepare yourself to
  survive an active shooter event if you are in the area or nearby when it o
 ccurs. Finally\, the course concludes with covering law enforcement’s and t
 he University’s response to various potentially dangerous situations includ
 ing an active shooter or any mass-casualty event. Topics include: the Emerg
 ency Notification Network (ENN) Alerts\, interacting with first responders\
 , personal preparedness\, and other initiatives of the University designed 
 to keep our Students\, Staff\, and Faculty as safe as possible.\n\n \n\nOnc
 e you are registered\, you will receive a reminder email and Zoom link from
  oem@miami.edu the day of the training session. A web camera and microphone
  capability are strongly preferred to promote interactivity throughout\, bu
 t not required.\n\n \n\nClosed sessions are also available for specific gro
 ups\, buildings\, or departments (with a minimum class size of 15)\, and ma
 y be scheduled at whatever date/time best accommodates the participants. Pl
