DESCRIPTION:The UM Office of Emergency Management regularly conducts virtua
 l Active Shooter Response Training with the University Community. The cour
 se is 1 hour and 15 minutes in length and consists of a presentation\, dis
 cussion\, and online group activities that incorporate the latest Departme
 nt of Homeland Security guidance on best practice responses for those who 
 encounter active shooter situations. \n\n \n\nThe course takes a holistic 
 approach to mitigating active shooter incidents and covers awareness\, avo
 idance\, and appropriate actions for response and reporting of concerning 
 behaviors prior to an incident ever taking place. In addition\, expert ins
 tructors discuss how to respond\, what to look for\, and how to prepare yo
 urself to survive an active shooter event if you are in the area or nearby
  when it occurs. Finally\, the course concludes with covering law enforcem
 ent’s and the University’s response to various potentially dangerous s
 ituations including an active shooter or any mass-casualty event. Topics i
 nclude: the Emergency Notification Network (ENN) Alerts\, interacting with
  first responders\, personal preparedness\, and other initiatives of the U
 niversity designed to keep our Students\, Staff\, and Faculty as safe as p
 ossible.\n\n \n\nOnce you are registered\, you will receive a reminder ema
 il and Zoom link from oem@miami.edu the day of the training session. A web
  camera and microphone capability are strongly preferred to promote intera
 ctivity throughout\, but not required.\n\n \n\nClosed sessions are also av
 ailable for specific groups\, buildings\, or departments (with a minimum c
 lass size of 15)\, and may be scheduled at whatever date/time best accommo
