DESCRIPTION:The UM Office of Emergency Management regularly conducts virtua
 l Active Shooter\nResponse Training with the University Community. The cour
 se is 1 hour and 15 minutes\nin length and consists of a presentation\, dis
 cussion\, and online group activities that\nincorporate the latest Departme
 nt of Homeland Security guidance on best practice\nresponses for those who 
 encounter active shooter situations.\n\n\nThe course takes a holistic appro
 ach to mitigating active shooter incidents and covers\nawareness\, avoidanc
 e\, and appropriate actions for response and reporting of\nconcerning behav
 iors prior to an incident ever taking place. In addition\, expert\ninstruct
 ors discuss how to respond\, what to look for\, and how to prepare yourself
  to\nsurvive an active shooter event if you are in the area or nearby when 
 it occurs. Finally\,\nthe course concludes with covering law enforcement’s 
 and the University’s response to\nvarious potentially dangerous situations 
 including an active shooter or any mass-\ncasualty event. Topics include: t
 he Emergency Notification Network (ENN) Alerts\,\ninteracting with first re
 sponders\, personal preparedness\, and other initiatives of the\nUniversity
  designed to keep our Students\, Staff\, and Faculty as safe as possible.\n
 \n\nOnce you are registered\, you will receive a reminder email and Zoom li
 nk for the\ntraining session. A web camera and microphone capability are st
 rongly preferred to\npromote interactivity but not required.\n\n\nClosed se
 ssions are also available for specific groups\, buildings\, or departments 
 (with a\nminimum class size of 15)\, and may be scheduled at whatever date/
 time best\naccommodates the participants. Please contact the Office of Emer

  for a specific group.
