DESCRIPTION:The UM Office of Emergency Management regularly conducts virtua
 l Active Shooter\nResponse Training with the University Community. The cou
 rse is 1 hour and 15 minutes\nin length and consists of a presentation\, d
 iscussion\, and online group activities that\nincorporate the latest Depar
 tment of Homeland Security guidance on best practice\nresponses for those 
 who encounter active shooter situations.\n\n\nThe course takes a holistic 
 approach to mitigating active shooter incidents and covers\nawareness\, av
 oidance\, and appropriate actions for response and reporting of\nconcernin
 g behaviors prior to an incident ever taking place. In addition\, expert\n
 instructors discuss how to respond\, what to look for\, and how to prepare
  yourself to\nsurvive an active shooter event if you are in the area or ne
 arby when it occurs. Finally\,\nthe course concludes with covering law enf
 orcement’s and the University’s response to\nvarious potentially dange
 rous situations including an active shooter or any mass-\ncasualty event. 
 Topics include: the Emergency Notification Network (ENN) Alerts\,\ninterac
 ting with first responders\, personal preparedness\, and other initiatives
  of the\nUniversity designed to keep our Students\, Staff\, and Faculty as
  safe as possible.\n\n \n\nOnce you are registered\, you will receive a re
 minder email and Zoom link for the\ntraining session. A web camera and mic
 rophone capability are strongly preferred to\npromote interactivity but no
 t required.\n\n\nClosed sessions are also available for specific groups\, 
 buildings\, or departments (with a\nminimum class size of 15)\, and may be
  scheduled at whatever date/time best\naccommodates the participants. Plea
