Following his departure with Gap, Corp he invested in J.Crew and launched Madewell, a trademark he bought with a vision of what it might become and subsequently grew it into a dominant denim and fashion retail company, along with developing J.Crew from a catalogue brand to a globally recognized name. In the mid 1990s, Steve Jobs asked Millard to join the board at Apple Inc. during which time, he most notably helped design and launch the Apple retail experience, which still stands today. Today, Millard is CEO at Alex Mill — a relaunched brand originally started by his son Alex in 2012.
