About this Event
Each year, the University of Miami Inter-American Law Review ("IALR") hosts the Lawyer of the Americas reception to honor a preeminent attorney who has significantly impacted Latin America and the Caribbean. This year's award recipient is the Honorable Roy K. Altman.
Judge Altman's many noteworthy achievements—including, but not limited to, your years of public service as an esteemed Federal Judge in the Southern District of Florida and an Assistant U.S. Attorney, your years of traveling and delivering speeches that bring awareness to the importance of Free Speech and democratic safeguards within a country, especially for Latin American countries that often fall prey to dictatorships, and your service to the Latin American community by being an example of all that Latin American immigrants can achieve and accomplish in America—are only some of the reasons the Inter-American Law Review will present him with this year's Lawyer of the Americas Award.
