In alignment with this year's theme "Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future," this panel brings together three Miami-Dade organizations creating direct pathways between local food surplus and community need.
While Miami-Dade generates massive food waste from restaurants, hotels, and events, over 1 in 10 residents experience food insecurity. This moderated panel will explore how we can collaborate to create direct pathways between local surplus food sources and residents experiencing food access challenges with speakers Jane Marie Russell from Food Rescue US; Francisco Torres from Compost for Life; and Jorge Palacios from GreenHaven Project, and moderated by Dr. Sumita Chatterjee.
