About this Event
The built and natural environments are critical for our efforts to build resilience. Smart land-use, robust infrastructure and healthy ecosystem services are key capacities of equitable, sustainable and resilient communities. Many South Florida projects are deploying nature-based responses for infrastructure and officials are considering modifications to zoning and building regulations to reduce vulnerability and risk. We are learning more about the power of natural habitats to protect us from the worst impacts of climate change and to help us build resilience.
A one-day symposium hosted by the University of Miami’s Climate Resilience Academy will review resilience in the built and natural environments. With local and global experts, we will examine challenges, assess what is to be learned from work to date, what still needs to be addressed, and how to increase momentum in response to accelerating climate impacts.
