2023 Lantern Festival
About this Event
The Asian American Students Association and the School of Architecture present the 2023 Annual Lantern Festival. Join us Friday October 20, at 8 PM in the architecture courtyard for a beautiful celebration filled with free food, games, boba, and more! End the celebration by decorating your very own water lantern and setting it off onto Lake Osceola.
Lantern Festival is a University of Miami tradition that serves as an extension of the lantern festivals and mid-autumn festivals celebrated across the world. It honors the connection between movement of the moon and the change of seasons that influence agricultural production and harvest. Being the equivalent of Thanksgiving, the Mid-Autumn Festival is traditionally celebrated with an abundance of food, carnival games, wishing lamps, moon cakes among other festivities.
This event is brought to you by the Asian American Students Association and the School of Architecture. This event is also a collaboration with
- Council of International Students and Organizations (COISO)
- Muslim Students of the University of Miami (MSUM)
- Queer and Asian Affinity Group
- Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE)
- Delta Epsilon Psi (DEPSI)
- Anime Club
- Filipino Student Association (FSA), and
(Free boba and mooncakes require the completion of at least 5 activities and will be given on a first come first serve basis while supplies last. Food vendors are not complimentary and their food must be paid at one's own expense. Entering Lake Osceola is strictly prohibited)
