Institute of the Mathematical Sciences of the Americas
The Institute of the Mathematical Sciences of the Americas at the University of Miami is funded through a 5 year award from the Simons Foundation along with funding from the Office of the Provost and contributions from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Mathematics. Dr. Robert Stephen Cantrell is Director of the Institute and Dr. Ludmil Katzarkov is Co-Director. The Institute started formal operations in July of 2019 with a Gala Kick Off Conference September 6-8, 2019. The mission of IMSA is threefold: (1) To foster and facilitate research in mathematics and its applications across the Americas; (2) To disseminate advances from this research broadly and interactively to the global mathematical and scientific communities; and (3) To build national and international capacity in the mathematical science workforce by providing targeted educational opportunities at key points in human intellectual development from middle school through postdoctoral training.
